Does anyone using nebulised Colomycin for Pseudomonas also use Salbutomol before the nebulised Colomycin.
I was given this at the hospital but I am getting a horrible panic type jittery and shaky reaction from it. I have tried the Colomycin without it and feel much better. I’d appreciate knowing whether anyone using Colomycin also uses the Salbutomol every time. I know it is intended to open up the airways but am wondering if it is essential if you can’t tolerate it.
Any thoughts welcome.

Thank you very much for your reply. Can you tell me how that works? I am adding 4mls of 0.9 saline to the Colomycin container. Does the Salbutomol come in liquid form and do you add it to the Colomycin container like Saline? I was given an inhaler to take 2 puffs before the nebulised treatment but I haven’t used one before and I am sure I am not using properly.
The Salbutamol comes in liquid form which you add to the Colomycin. I only use an inhaler once a day in the morning, but that is for my Bronchiectasis.
I wasn’t given salbutamol at first but I was getting some chest pain. My immunologist prescribed 5ml of salbutamol but like you I was getting the shakes and feeling cold. The dose was reduced to 2.5 ml and this has reduced the shaking. If you can manage without or reduce your dose ask your team if that’s okay. BTW I did ask my GP and he muttered something about beta blockers but not liking that route so best to ask the people who look after you.
I will check with the team. I said at the challenge dose appointment that I had never used it before but they were keen for me to take it just before the Colomycin. I did just one dose instead of 2 this morning and didn’t feel as shaky so I’ll ask if I can go with that or drop it altogether.
Hi No I don't think you use the same container for the Colomycin & the Salbutamol I use just the normal container for nebbing Salbutamol, then my 3% saline & then I use the special Container ( the one with the filter) to neb the Colomycin . , did they take you through it all in Hospital ?
