Just had another batch of appointments through which are for an us abdominal aorta and a ultrasound pelvis. Any idea what these might detect? Thanks.

us abdominal aorta?? - the NHS screen men over 65 for this, at least there is a new programme being rolled out. I thought you were an under 65 woman!!

I guess in your case its to check for any thickening or damage caused by your lifestyle. Poor diet, smoking, lack of exercise all contribute to a thickening or build up of plaque on the abdominal aorta over time. Its non-invasive with the probe rolling over your abdomen.

The pelvic one will check if you have any problems with your 'lady' bits. For this one, if I remember right, the probe goes into your vagina. I had one done years ago when being investigated for infertility and it picked up IBS.

Sound like your GP is being pretty thorough.

That's what came up when I googled it Bolly?! Yep I am a 39 year old woman not 65 year old man!

I have to drink two pints of water before I go in. Doc did say she was probably over referring me, probably because they are as fed up with me as everyone else!

Bad stomach pains again this afternoon along with really bad lower back and hip, and tingling toes :-(
