Dear Jazapa,

Many thanks for your question to the Trust.

This is a difficult one to answer because this is very much an individual issue.

There is a high percentage rate (86%) of survival, 12 months post transplant.

Thereafter, it really does depend on each patient's circumstance.

We have case study's of people who are fit and well and enjoying life to the full, after over 20 yrs post transplant.

My mother had a transplant 20 years ago and survived for 12years, 11yrs of those having a good quality of life. As research and medicines advance, who knows. Stay positive and healthy. X
