weight loss!! Help

Hi everyone,

I’m 65 kg and 5’4”. I’ve been trying to lose weight, but despite my efforts, my weight hasn’t budged for the past two months. Meanwhile, my friend has lost over a stone. I’m not aiming for that much, but I’d like to lose at least a few kilos.

I eat reasonably healthy and walk 10k most days, yet I’m seeing no progress. The only medication I’m on is 5mg prednisone. Oh and I’ve been fasting as well (religious reasons)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It's difficult isn't it. You are probably eating too many calories even though you are eating healthy you need to burn more calories than you eat to lose weight. Watch your carbs and portion sizes if you can do a bit of light weight lifting that will help burn more fat even just light weights. Walking is healthy but unless you are walking at a fast pace you won't burn off many calories unless incorporated with a bit of strength training. Good luck

Yes very difficult. I do however record the calories I eat in an app called MyFitnessPal but nothing seems to be working. Maybe it’s fluid retention. I don’t know.

I really wouldn’t worry too much, your BMI is in the healthy normal range. However, if you’re determined to lose weight then keep a food diary, log everything (and I mean everything) that passes your lips and weigh everything because it’s very easy to underestimate how much you are eating.

You need to eat less energy (calories) than you consume. Set a goal (1400 is an example) and stick to it regardless. Walking is great for overall health and fitness but won’t unfortunately burn many extra calories.

I am a sports coach with nutritional qualifications and many years of experience in losing (and gaining) weight. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I have been fasting for a whole month but at the same time I’ve been having lots of fruits after breaking the fast. Anyway, I won’t be fasting anymore so will keep a proper food diary. Thanks again.
