Fat or Muscle Loss

How can you tell if you’re losing fat or losing muscle mass? I’ve been eating healthy and walking and doing some light strength exercises. I’m losing weight but wondering if it’s fat or muscle loss from the cirrhosis. Is there any way to tell?

You can tell from weight scales that measure body composition. They have them in most health centres and gyms and you can buy some for home use. They are not expensive. I have some I bought from Amazon. They tell you weight, BMI, muscle mass, fat free body weight, body fat, visceral fat etc.you get the results on a phone app.

Morning Corin1950

The scales you mention in your reply sound brilliant, could you post a link at all for me to buy some for my husband, these would be a great guide to see if hes gaining any muscle at the moment 🙂

Thank you in advance of any help,

Take care

Best wishes

K

Thanks Corin, I purchased one of these scales but only been using it for a couple of weeks. Haven’t got enough data from it yet but I’ll keep checking the results.

Hey there. Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Your weight can increase as you build muscle

The scales give separate values for both of those
