Hoping someone who has been through similar can give a bit of advice please?
I have not drunk since my diagnosis 15 months ago, I'm advised following, following scan no ascites, I do however suffer with water retention.
I don't add salt to food made at home, and never have, also takeaway food is limited to fish & chips (shared once or twice a year) which I would add salt too and maybe an Indian or Chinese twice a year and most food is home made.
Just wondering if anyone altered their diet or did anything different to reduce it, as it comes and goes without warning? Was starting to think bread maybe connected with it?
I'm trying to lose weight, lost lot's before I became ill, but it's getting me down as my weight is yoyoing.
Many thanks.

HelloIt sounds to me you are doing the right things - perhaps a fluid restricted regime could help?. It is hard as I'm supposed to be 1.5 L / day, but can rarely stick to it and it's usually more like 2L as I get very thirsty, even though I have also restricted salt drastically.
However I have ascites and a recent rocket drain.
Have you been checked again lately for ascites as if youvare uncomfortable it could be addressed. Are you on diuretics? They would help, see your hepatologist if not and ask about it.
Sorry, no help really! Well done on giving up drink, me too for a couple of years now. It's not easy I know but once it was done, I really don't miss or crave it!
Yes, I am on a diuretic, as for seeing a hepatologist, well I may as well ask to see God, apart from seeing a nurse a couple of times (which was about 10 moths after diagnosis), which is another story in itself, I've seen a doctor once in all this time. I'd say it is water retention rather than ascites, as the scan said. just due to how I'm bloating, which comes and goes.
I think I'm going to pay to see a consultant to check my progress.
Hi, before you pay to see a consultant it would be worth giving the BLT nurseled helpline a ring. They might be able to advise you and at least tell you if you need to see a consultant.
