I have been taking Iron tablet daily for some time although ran out last week and still awaiting prescription from Doc's.

My last reading results just in is 73 and the norm range should be 140 -450?

Is this part of having Cirrhosis, Decompensated Alcohol related But not had a drop since June 2023.

Any comments appreciated.

Your iron tablets are nothing to do with your platelet count - iron tablets would usually be to treat iron deficient anaemia which can occur with your cirrhosis.

Low platelet count is also common with cirrhosis - if you have portal hypertension your spleen 'joins the party' and starts to gobble up your platelets leading to enlarged spleen and low platelet count. At my hubbies lowest his platelet count was down to 22 and he required platelet transfusions before a procedure. His spleen grew to 19.5cm.
