Fibroscan score of 6.9

Hi. I am assuming my score means fibrosis (ALT 108 AST 45 GGT 77 at last bloods everything else notmal) as advised by the consultant who said i should be getting to under 6 ideally?

Wondering if people have any experience of improving the score and reversing the condition? Consultant said I can reverse this and get back to normal liver?

I assume a score of 6.9 means I am effectively stage 3 of fatty liver disease which is the one before cirrhosis? My ultrasound results said normal size healthy liver so a bit confused.

FibroScan® results range from 2.5 kPa to 75 kPa. Between 90–95% of healthy people without liver disease will have a liver scarring measurement <7.0 kPa (median is 5.3 kPa)

This was copied from fibroscan info. Anything under 7kpa is normal according to this. Reducing weight, alcohol intake and having a good varied low fat diet will help with reducing fat in the liver. Check out the BLT page on liver health and diet. I assume you have an appt with a Dr to discuss results, he may also have a figure related to fat in the liver which some fibroscan machines are able to give.

Best of luck.

Take care

E

Low carb healthy fat diet is reversing mine. Loads about it on the web. Night at fully endorsed in UK though.

I wouldn't assume anything/ I had a scan a few years back slightly higher than yours and nobody said anything about fibrosis. 6.9 is not f3 anyway, it's true that anything below 6 can be reversed- watch your diet do more exercise and if you drink alchol moderate it or cease

My doctor said they used to believe if you were at f4 you had cirrhosis and it couldn't be reversed. However, in the last several years many liver specialists have reported improvements. Especially in non-drinkers, eating a healthy diet and getting rid of any virus or infections contributing to the damage. The liver is a remarkable organ and he has personally seen several cases of f4 reversal. Your reading is actually a pretty good read compared to many on this site.

Anything under 7 is generally regarded as normal, at most it's F0-F1 so just a teeny bit of fibrosis.
