I have just received a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in a lot of my joints. Doctor has prescribed Celebrex for 2 weeks…then go off, and only take as needed after that.
I have no fibrosis or scarring of my liver, and am in a lot of pain. I am hoping this will allow me to move more, which I know is critical…
Is this okay to take short term?

You probably want to just run it past the doctor who is monitoring/treating your Primary Biliary Cholangitis. Generally the use of Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories is advised against in liver conditions BUT there is a balancing act as to which condition is causing you the most issues just now? If the pain is causing you to be unable to live without any quality of life then the appropriate medication is needed. Obviously, a with all drugs this one comes with it's side effects and warnings - particularly for people with a liver condition (but most if not all do say to check with your doctor before taking). Your hepatology/gastro doctor may possibly advise on other pain meds or may just want to have you monitored whilst on this one.
I’d echo Katie’s advice. Specialists in one field don’t always think about the bigger picture. Ask your liver consultant to talk to your rheumatologist and find a treatment they are both happy with. Sometimes you have to prioritise.
