Now 4 days post transplant

I got an urgent call on Saturday morning at 7am, was taken into the QE hospital, they had a delay because of an emergency surgery needed at the donor hospital, so my transplant operation started at 2am Sunday, and went on till 11am, everything went amazingly well,I'm currently in ITU recovering very slowly but very well considering it is a major operation, just got some issues with blood pressure flowing and too high, and my blood sugars are all over the place because of steroids and they decided to stop my insulin and blood pressure tablets, but slowly starting both again, so counts are reducing slowly but everything considered it is the best I have felt for over 8 months

Huge congrats. Thing I wasn't prepared for was when they got me out of bed to start moving around. Walking 10 yards was absolutely exhausting. Had to sit down for a while. With practice after a few more days, started to feel much stronger again.

great news, it is so weird how you suddenly feel so good then you realise you can control your body temperature 😂, I was always so cold but when I got to the ward after ICU my wife came to see me and I couldn’t wait to tell her I’m hot 😅.

Good luck on your recovery 👍.

Stay safe All

Fantastic! It is only really after you have had the transplant that you realise how ill you were slowly becoming. The next phase of your journey has begun. Bon voyage.
