Hi guys, I know allot of you have a diagnosed condition and have many problems going on so ill make it as short and sweet as I can.
I'm a very overweight male 6ft 300lb and for the last 2 months I've had right side pain, just under my rib in my right side and in my back, sometimes its a stab sometimes its a dull ache but I have serious health anxiety and I'm freaking the hell out! I can't calm down and I can't relax
I Phone the doctors to be told a blood test would be 2 weeks and the GP appointment a week later so its 3 weeks till I get any answers to my questions.
I have the most vile health anxiety and paranoia you could imagine. I can't stop crying and am worried I won't be able to fix whatever is wrong. I don't feel unwell to an extent and have no other symptoms to speak of outside of these pains. there never go away or leave alone to give my mind rest.
my family think I'm crazy and I have no friends to turn to. I'm very terrified its something terrible like cancer/cirrhosis. its effecting my sleep and my work
Can anybody relate/offer advice?
thank you for reading I hate being a burden

It could be anything, or nothing. Might not be liver-related, either. The gallbladder is in that area too.
I totally understand your anxiety. The best thing you can do while waiting for tests is to start giving your liver some serious TLC by making sure you are eating a healthy diet, not consuming too much processed food and sugar and cutting alcohol down or stopping it. Also try to quit smoking if you smoke. And if you don't currently exercise much then try to work on that, too. This all sounds like really basic stuff but is actually the mainstay of treatment for a lot of liver conditions and will be good for you even if you don't have a liver problem. It also probably sounds like a lot of things to concentrate on all at once. I would agree with that, but it sounds like the more you can take your mind off the health anxiety the better.
I think it is also worthwhile you keeping a note of the pains, where and when they occur, what you were doing at the time and just before and what food and drink you consume. If you can spot anything that triggers the pains that will be informative for you and your GP, plus you may be able to reduce or stop the discomfort by making adjustments to aspects of your lifestyle.
Wishing you all the best. Let us know how you get on.
thank you for taking the time to read my post and reply to me.
I've started walking the day about 4k per day 3-4000 steps, i don't drink or smoke but fast food and sitting at my pc working is my lifestyle which is why the weight gain, I get so afraid its going to be irreversible that i just freeze up
nothing I do makes the pain worse or better its just there no matter what sadly
thanks for sending a reply! I'm just a super nervous paranoid person so any pain is usually a bad pain but this one has been here with me now for a long time and it really does concern me.
I've started walking 3-4k steps per day fighting with my dog the entire way, I've changed my diet, no more sugar and fast food and have started taking supplements, the pain I get is in my side near my ribs and around to my back but it never goes away and it aches quite strongly
im going to keep up the diet and exercise and stick to my appointments. i just wish i could be pain free for a few hours to have some rest from it, hopefully nothing going on with me is serious and debilitating, other than my pain i feel good actually but very scared
it might be useful to say to the doctor that you could see someone who can help with your anxiety about health issues and having had problems with my liver maybe have a fibroscan(same as that done to pregnant ladies to see if your liver is ok)
If you’re so worried, which you obviously are, and don’t want to wait 3 weeks, I suggest trip to A&E. They should diagnose your problem the same day. You will be waiting around there for some time but I think it is worth it. Good luck. Please let me know the outcome should you choose to take my advice. I think a referral by your GP to an an anxiety specialist would also be helpful.
We are sorry you are feeling so anxious at the moment. As other forum members have suggested, if you are concerned we would suggest contacting your health care professional again or NHS 111.
If you are in the UK and would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
