I've had a swollen lymph node under my right upper jaw since the 24th Dec I do suffer with regular tonsillitis too, it was 2cm I'd say when I first found it and since has gone down massively sometimes I feel it sometimes I cant. I suffer with massive anxiety so scared to go back to the doctors I've been already they gave me a 5 day course of antibiotics early Jan but still never went down, I'm scared to go back even though its not got bigger I feel like the side of my throat aches too on and off. Has anyone experienced anything similar I'm freaking out

Hi Cashiee. Definately contact your doctor again. The course of antibiotics may not have been long enough, they tend to under prescribe them sometimes. My son recently had a chalazian... a red swelling on his lower eyelid. Originally he was prescribed a 1 week course of antibiotics, which improved it but never completely went. He contacted the doc again, was prescribed a 2 week course and his eye completely cleared up. So please do let your doc know.

See I did leave a little bit of info out I did ring back about it and she prescribed me 2 weeks more but I didn't take them because it made me feel real bad I know I should of took them but I got a lil scared x
Sometimes antibiotics do cause short term side effects. Its important to put up with them in order to get rid of the infection. Nothing to be scared of ok ? L xx
Cashiee97 I always dread taking antibiotics and just got done with a 2 week course. I agree with Hidden that it’s important to take them and finish off all the meds. One thing that helps me when prescribed meds is to check the livertox website and if there’s concerns u can ask ur doc for a diff medication. In my experience some docs generally prescribe the “usual” course without considering the possible negative affects. Hope u feel better. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK5...
Hello,
Laura is right, some antibiotics can make you feel rather rough. It might be worth asking your GP whether there is an alternative antibiotic you could take, assuming you have told him/hwer about side effects. If there isn't then it is likley to be best to take the short term pain to get the longterm gain. Undertreated infections can get harder to treat....

We aren't allowed to make medical comments as such, but when I was in my 20's I used to have stones in the submaxillary gland (salivary duct stone).
These could be quit painful especially when eating. Here the stone rises and blocks fluid from entering the mouth when chewing. Once you stop chewing, the stone sinks and fluid jets out from under the tongue. Normally these stone just pop out on there own, but sometimes they may need some help.
These stones are harmless, so don't worry and get medical advice.
Good luck.
