I have been diagnosed with F2 fibrosis with a liver stiffness of 7.4 kPa .Is fibroscan accurate in diagnosing fibrosis ..I am getting symptoms of cirrhosis like insomnia, loss of appetite and weird sounds in stomach after having food ..Is it possible to miss cirrhosis without biopsy ..I have fibrosis because of fatty liver ..Any advise regarding fibroscan accuracy? My hepa is not concerned about my fibroacan result .

Hi there

I have chirrosis of liver which was diagnosed without a biopsy.

I had a fibroscan last year which read 19 KPA F4 my consultant didn't believe the reading in fact asked me if I had been drinking (t total now) he said we would re do it at a later date when I asked for another fibroscan he said there was no need I feel that he truly didn't believe the readings.

Please don't worry about the noises in your stomach mine sometimes sounds like someone is playing drums in there 😁 my GP said it proves it's working!

Good luck with your journey.

Hayley

Hi Kuda

I am in compensated stage 4.

The most thing I suffer with is fatigue and body pain when I came out of ICU I had to learn to walk again my arms and legs are still weak and painful.

I don't know how much is due to been in a coma or a stroke I had around the same time.

But on the positive side my bloods have come back normal for the first time you are right in saying we are all different our bodies are weird and wonderful.

Please try not to worry too much not easy I know

but take every day as it comes.

Keep in touch

Hayley

Not sure what you have been told but 7.4 kpa is a long way from compensated cirrhosis. Just keep doing what your doing and your liver should be fine sounds like stress is causing some of your issues

Take care

Boone

Exactly. F2 is a totally reversible stage to be in. Why is everyone so obsessed with cirrhosis. Enjoy the damn news that you dont have it for christ sakes.

Well said Phoenix!

It's not along way from cirrhosis. My first reading was 8 kpa. I continued drinking but cutting down. 6 mth later my reading was 12.7kpa. When the damage starts it gets fast n faster unless you stop there n then. Best wishes

As Boone and Phoenix have said... You're way off cirrhosis with that marginally raised stiffness / kpa. Also do remember that fibroscan scores F1 to F4 have nothing to do with the most common stages/grading of cirrhosis. Cirrhosis can also be staged 1-4 but these stages are determined by significant physiological changes symptoms/complications. Apologies if you knew that but they do get mixed-up on here sometimes.

Good points. There is no such thing as "compensated stage 4." The correct term would be "F4 that's compensated" or "cirrhosis stage 1 or 2". If we are talking metivar scale. There are other scales used out there. I also really wish people would take the time to understand that the internet seems to use the word cirrhosis to basically describe all forms of fibrosis which we know is not the truth. This 7.4 kpa score is all of a .4 kpa into the F2 zone. Its so boderlining not even having fibrosis by a mere 2 kpa and the "I think I have Cirrhosis symptoms" is still on the mind? Man what I would do to have the news some people get. It's a really good thing that we cant wish things into existence isnt it. Well in this case anyways

Hi Phoenix

Metavir scores are related to fibroscan/Biopsy?A score of 7.4 on a fibroscan is related to fibrosis .I managed to cure my fatty liver .I heard that a score greater than 7.2 corresponds to moderate fibrosis .Regarding my symptoms I have pain and heaviness in the upper abdomen and insomnia and sometimes loss of appetite ..

I wonder if these symptoms are from my current diagnosis of fibrosis ..

I was an occasional heavy drinker which lead to fatty liver disease ..I am now a heavy coffee drinker .I sometimes practice mindfulness meditation which inproved my pain to some extent .

Yes.. the design of the fibroscan was to measure liver stiffness using kilopascals and correlate them to a metivar score. If you have no inflammatory markers that are raised in your blood then your correlating score for 7.4 is F2.

This is why I was saying that I dont understand why you keep talking about cirrhosis in all your posts. You dont have cirrhosis according to any result you have ever posted. As far as your symptoms; insomnia, heaviness in the abdomen, and loss of appetite.. those can be symptoms of many things including health anxiety.

I have a fibroscan score of 38 which is F4 and I dont have any of the symptoms that you are talking about. So that just proves that your symptoms dont mean a diagnosis of cirrhosis and no doctor would diagnose a person with any ailment based on just those things. Yes you can def have such symptoms with cirrhosis but as far as every test you have posted about here on this forum you have F2 stage fibrosis. Again those symptoms can be cause by a million things from stomach indigestion to chronic leukemia and everything in between. F2 is a reversible stage of fibrosis and you'll eventually be a perfectly normal person if you keep doing the right things. So unless a doctor tells you otherwise STOP worrying about cirrhosis and enjoy your life!

So pleased for you, Martin. You are an inspiration and give us all hope. Onwards and upwards. Lynne

You have been given a chance many of us never had. A chance to prevent your liver getting irreversible scarring. No alcohol no fat and sugar, go for it live a long life

Sorry but who diagnosed you with Compensated Cirrhosis based on a 7.4kpa fibroscan when every study out there shows this is barely over the 7.0 F1-F2 cut off?

The symptoms you are describing sounds a lot like anxiety my friend

They don’t say they were diagnosed with cirrhosis. They are questioning if fibroscan is accurate as they are experiencing what they feel are symptoms of Cirrhosis. I do agree it’s most probably some anxiety but we all know how hard that can be without clear information and answers.
