Newly diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty Liver disease.

It's moderate but need help. I have Hashimotos also. I'm lacking energy and the discipline to exercise. My life is chaotic as I'm sleeping a lot. I find myself never having the ability, strength and time to go to the gym etc. I need support and help with this! Many thanks

Hi, I just wanted to reply because I completely get how you feel.. I was diagnosed with NAFLD in January this year and was a complete shock.. I also have long covid fatigue and B12 deficiency and so I completely understand the fatigue element, it is SO hard when you’re so exhausted! One tip I’ve found is to do it very slowly and build up, and find things you enjoy too.. I love swimming but I find it hard most of the time to have the energy.. I find walking the best exercise for me because I can do it at any time to fit in with my day and how I’m feeling, even if it’s just a five minute walk it’s much better than nothing at all.

Many thanks for your tips. It's hard going. My stomach was very swollen. It's going down slowly but it's the energy that's ppfffffffff I will do that and keep going. Have you tried L carnitine? What do you recommend to get rid of this fatty liver condition. My doctor said non alcoholic fatty liver disease just means "weight in doctors terms" and told me I need to diet and exercise. The diet no problems but the exercise? I need a personal trainer to help me over a course of 12 weeks I believe just to get the motivation but I'm on a low income and love to afford one.

It's really not easy this condition. Totally scared and really don't want to end up in a bad state of health.

maybe if you raised thyroid levels, the fstigue woukd lessen? Hypothyroidism is known for causing fatigue (and hard to lose weight)?. If you are on synthetic thyroid hormonr replacement, some people do poorly with that in part because of trouble converting t4 to t3. See maybe if you can convince a doc for a trial of adding t3 directly. Theyll be pushback and presumably showing him stacks of articles on the research will be useless. Natural thyroulidvpreperstions have both t4 and t3; can go that route also. .

I'm on t3 20 mg of liothyronine and 175 of levothyroxine. My liver is fatty and I got conversion problems too. Natural desiccated thyroid I am trying to fight with doctors to get it. How do you get it on the NHS? I heard a few people have got it

I completely understand. It feels like you’ve been given this massive, scary diagnosis, and left to get on with it with the only advice being diet and exercise. My GP has been great at getting it all diagnosed and I’ve had an ultrasound scan, there’s also a fibroscan which is more detailed but apparently I don’t meet the criteria for referral for one!

I’m totally the same as you, the diet was easy, especially as it’s pretty healthy and balanced anyway so haven’t really changed too much, it’s the exercise! That’s why I try to walk as much as possible, I don’t have the money for a gym or personal trainer, and I can fit it in every day around what I’m doing and how I’m feeling, and can just take it as slowly as I need to, some days it’s only 5-10 minutes, other days I can go for an hour depending on how I’m feeling at the time. It’s not easy though!

Sounds like a good plan, start small and take it from there, it will all add up to make a big difference, good luck!
