All my LFTs has been normal for years. I recently had a flare-up of Diverticulitis, also a UTI and a hospital stay of 2-1/2 days. My LFTs, for the first-time ever, were really elevated. By the time I left the hospital, they all went back to normal except the AST but it keeps coming down. My FibroScan shows on the cusp of F1/F2, S3 about 8 months ago. Ultrasound shows the beginning of F3. The ultrasound in the hospital showed normal liver/spleen and normal echo texture, liver normal echogenicity. I had 4 CT scan in ER said my liver was normal, a total of 5 but 1 said it wasn’t, within 2 years. I don’t meet with the liver nurse (I’m in the US) until 2/29 to get her take on things. Also, 11 years ago, I had alcoholic hepatitis. So, my question is can a bad flare-up of the diverticulitis/UTI be the cause of my sudden rise in my LFTs. Oh, my GGT was normal. I haven’t drank in 7 years. I know the liver nurse is thinking about a biopsy on my liver. Any thoughts please.

Hello
Test results vary according to both the individual’s whole health and the laboratory analysing the results and should always be interpreted by the user’s own health care professionals.
We suggest talking this through with your own doctor or health care professional.
Best wishes
