Should we worry?

mum is on large doses of lactulose and diuretics and has been feeling very unwell all day. She hasn’t been able to open her Bowles at all, and seems very confused.

is this an A&E job?

If in doubt always get a Dr's advice, so yes it's time for A&E or an ambulance.Don't hesitate.

Hi,

How is your Mum this morning? I recall from your previous posts your Mum is an HE sufferer, therefore not having her bowels open will mean those toxins are not released and her symptoms may worsen. I would say that is an emergency and therefore if you haven't already would be considering A&E.

Keep us posted!

hi both,

Yes we ended up getting an ambulance out and she is in hosp as she has a slightly irregular heart rythum and quite bad oedema too. Two brand new symptoms for 2024!

Heading in to see her shortly.

Thanks

Sam

How was she Sam? Not the start to 2024 you were hoping for but she's still here and still fighting. You're doing all the right things. Hope the oedema and arrhythmia settle down soon.

She’s ok home again now but already concerned for her as her HE symptoms are getting worse again. It’s hard because you don’t want to panic all the time; but you also don’t want to ignore it, you know?

This evening she thought she could hear people upstairs, and then got confused that Good Friday is at Christmas (I think confusing it with Black Friday) and being insistent that I’m in my early 20s (which I sadly am not 😂😂😂)

Calling an ambulance for a sick person is a sign of strength and decisiveness, NOT a sign of panic! If you think she needs medical help don't hesitate.

And don't allow them to put it down to age or dementia.

HE needs treating.
