Fraught with worry

26.7: ALT 45, GGT 54 ALP 19816.8: ALT 40, GGT 40, ALP 196

21.8: Ultrasound identified nothing sinister but said the liver was: moderately infused with fatty infiltration.

My cholesterol is through the roof.

My BMI was about 32 on 11.7; now 29.75. All other bloods well within range except MCV which is 97. Immunology and all the Hep tests negative.

I take teriparatide which may explain the ALP.

I have been quite sedentary post covid, partly due to fear after a bad fall.

I have a fibroscan booked next week.

I was drinking about half a bottle of wine a day since covid; some days a bit more, some days a bit less. I have not had alcohol since 11.7.

My fearometer is presently off the scale but worst of all I am worried my doctors will think I am a boozer and plain stupid, which I have been.

Overall, I suspect this picture is a combination of diet (lots of good stuff too), weight, lack of exercise, a particular drug therapy and alcohol.

morning PutneyGirl

Please try not to worry .. my LFT where much higher then yours.. mine have come down a bit now which is great 👍🏼

Cut out the alcohol, which may also help you loss a little weight. Which in turn will help the liver recover. Don’t forgot the liver can repair itself.

Doctors don’t judge, and tbh lots of people probably drink that amount every day.. I was drinking a bottle and a half 3 times a week. It’s an easy habit to pick up, but one you can also give up. Try finding a hobbie that keeps you occupied, walking is also great for your health and mental and physical.. even a 5 minute walk to start with then build it up xx

Good luck and keep us posted xx

She does say she's not had alcohol for nearly two months.

Just had the fibroscan. A mildly fatty liver with a reading of 238 and a kpa score of <5. I cannot belive the relief washing over me.

I swear I will never drink on a daily basis ever again.

The hepatologist thought it more weight related than alcohol related but gave me a stern talking to about limiting units to 14 per week maximum.

Thank you all and my best wishes for your recovery. Never again do I want to traverse this rabbit hole.
