bile ducts

I had a blood test few weeks back result was Alp 177and Alt 50. GP repeated them and they came back Alt 30, Alp 139 BUT GGT 105 which wasn’t tested previously. I paid to have an ultrasound scan which showed intrahepatic bile duct dilation of 3.6mm. Everything else was ok in terms of liver gall bladder pancreas spleen. At the scan I was told ultrasound doesn’t always pick up very small stones or tumours. My GP did an urgent referral to Hepatology. I was informed today I will get an appointment in six months!!!! I was informed by the admin lady my referral wasn’t a urgent cancer referral.. I am now looking into a private MRCP scan . Does anyone think this response from Hepatolgy is wrong or odd?

totally understand why you’ve asked the question.

My referral went in May 2023 and I don’t even have an appointment to see a consultant until end of March 2024.

I paid for a private consultation and an ERCP was recommended.

The cost private starts at about £7000, ( which I don’t have) and that’s just to have a look at the bile ducts!

I’ve chosen to hang on for the NHS !!
