pain upper right side

I started with a terrible pain in my upper right side into my back with a gnawing sensation to the upper right front about 4 weeks ago. Liver function tests were not normal but an ultrasound concluded no gallstones and liver, gallbladder, spleen all looked normal. Still in pain, which starts in the evening. Repeat bloods tomorrow but next Dr appointment not for two weeks. Can anyone with similar symptoms suggest what might be going on? Taking Codine and buscopan.

I’m the same. Intermittent URQ pains since 2020. Labs good, ultrasound good, MRI good, fibroscan good, biopsy good. Only thing found was enlarged liver but shaped a Riedel’s lobe and mildly elevated bilirubin that a genetic test discovered I have Gilbert’s syndrome.

I have had High B12 for about ten years which was discovered after I was unwell with white poop!! I got better and didnt feel unwell at that time, it was very strange. There was mention of looking at my liver then but it never happened because I go better. But the B12 always comes back high.. my liver mustn’t get rid of the excess as it should.

I'm awaiting ultrasound for similar pain. I had been feeling very unwell generally for about a month e.g. legs would buckle when I stood up, often felt very shaky, zero energy. Stomach was bloated and pain got much worse after evening meal. Stool changes going back about 3 months i.e. pale & loose (sorry!).

After the clinician who referred me for ultrasound said she thought my gallbladder might be the issue, I had a think about my diet. I reckon I eat very well - the 'Mediterranean diet' is normal for me. But maybe there was just a bit too much oil ... a lot of olive oil in fact. So I cut that down to the bare minimum and pain went as if by magic.

This surprised me - I usually find that 'lifestyle choices' are a long term good bet, not an instant win. What's your oil/fat intake like?

I eat my salad naked - not a fan of oily feeling. We use an air fryer for anything we might have fried and grill everything else. I drank protein shakes everyday for along time as I lift weights most days but have stopped now incase that’s been a factor. I eat Greek yogurt/oats I’m morning, maybe home made soup at lunch and don’t tend to eat much bread, recently switched to sourdough to and been looking to avoid veg olio that’s already in food ingredients. Honestly my diet seems good to me. I rarely drink alcohol either. 😖

Oats ... this is just a (probably silly) hunch I had ... but another thing I tried was giving them up. The one & only reason was that I worked out I'd started eating oats with yoghurt & fruit every morning just a little while before my bowels started going funny. I'd always eaten yogurt but not oats. So our instincts, right or wrong, seem to be similar!
