Fatty Liver and Lidocaine teeth extraction, safe? Anyone else have extraction/dental work?

Lidocaine is process directly by the Liver.

I have advanced gum disease, and will have to have teeth extraction, reoccurring gum abcess and mobile loose teeth. It not a choice for someone who has advanced gum disease.

I have Fatty Liver, this was diagnosed show on my CT CAT abdominal scan. I never drink a day in my life, but I am Morbidly Obese, like morbidly, way overweight.

I will be getting Lidocaine for local, you know the typical teeth extraction use Lidocaine to numb and extract the teeth.

Should I worry about my Fatty Liver on the Lidocaine? I mean Teeth extraction and dental work is common, and I'm sure I can't be the only one who has a Fatty Liver and need extraction?

My hubby has cirrhosis and has had teeth extracted plus numerous fillings and has had the local anaesthetic each time without trouble. If you are concerned re. your own circumstances you should ask your own doctor for clarification.

Firstly, I should point out that I’m not medically qualified, but I share information purely for the benefit of others.

A while ago I posted a story of a study that's presently ongoing over here in the UK at Birmingham University on how Periodontitis (gum disease) can cause fatty liver.

Hopefully, once your gum infection has been rectified, then your liver will be able to start repairing itself.

Lidocaine can be toxic for the liver to have to process. With an already fatty liver, the liver may struggle for a while. But once the gum infection has been resolved and the Lidocaine stopped being used, your liver should be able to repair itself and return to normal

The liver is a very resilient and can take a lot of abuse over many years, and still be able to recover.

Several years before my transplant when I was still in the process of being diagnosed, I had to have a tooth out as I broke it, my dentist took it out but I ended up in a&e couple days later as it wouldn't clot and bleed out, they stopped it bleeding but few days later I had to have an emergency hospital dental appointment as the clot was so big I couldn't close my mouth and had to have it cut off. This was all due to a very low platelet level caused by NASH cirrhosis. It might be wise to have your platelet level checked before you have your teeth seen too, even 6 years post my dentist always sends me to hospital if I need a tooth out. The lidocaine is fine, make sure your dentist knows you have liver issues.Good luck
