Looking back at all your previous posts your liver has actually been decompensated for some time with the ascites/fluid build up and other symptoms - this isn't a sudden shift.
Portal Hypertension can occur even in a compensated liver as it's a mechanical issue in that blood starts struggling to go through the scarred liver resulting in it backing up in the portal veinous system. Beta blockers can often deal with the portal hypertension preventing it from causing other issues like varices. Other people might get some benefits from a TIPSS ( Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt) procedure to reduce portal hypertension, varices and ascites but it can also lead to an increase in Hepatic Encephalopathy.
Are you currently under the care of one of the liver transplant units? Just asking because you don't say whether you've actually been assessed for transplant or what the issue is that is preventing a potential transplant. Local doctors can't make the decision, only a transplant unit can make that decision and only after a thorough examination of your situation - there are things though that can totally contraindicate transplant and it may be that one of these is in play making transplant too dangerous.
No one here can say what stage you are at or what the prognosis could be but sometimes it can be possible to reverse a decompensated liver to a compensated state or if not there could be continued deterioration especially if you've reached a stage where only transplant could have helped.
