Does this sound like fatty liver or PBC? I was diagnosed 9 years ago with mild fatty liver. They were checking for PBC because I had a ama m2 of 69 and a mildly elevated Alt. I lost weight and my Alt came down. US showed an enlarged liver and biopsy showed only mild fatty liver. I went back to Hepa last year in June, because I felt off and my Alp had jumped up and I had small fracture on my finger so we chalked it up to that. But it continued to stay elevated and got really high in Oct and Nov. It calmed back down in Jan. Then has since jumped up again. I have since lost about 10% off my weight. My Alp is now 169 with 121 upper range. Ast is 46 range 0-40, Alt 56 range 0-32, Ana 1:640, and Ama M2 is 29. I haven't taken Urso, because the dr wanted me to lose weight first to see if it wasn't the fatty liver driving the liver enzymes. Any suggestions?

PBC or fatty liver
Hey Zelda, most people who have PBC also test positive for AMA(anti mitochondria antibodies) there are a rare few who don’t. I know people can get rid of a fatty liver with a good whole food diet with lots of roasted vegetables and lean meat. Has your doctor recommended a good diet for your fatty liver? While your lft’s are high they aren’t that bad for someone who has PBC . While the blood test can be helpful, they are’nt always definitive. They only just tell your doctor where to look.
If it’s fatty liver, you have pretty good chances of improving that. Other things can irritate your liver. I had an infection from a dental implant last fall that raised my AST a little above range. It sounds like your doing okay otherwise just keep to a good diet and take super good care of yourself
Best wishes
