Hi

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (was told 3 years ago it was unclassified, they were leaning more towards Crohns at the time)

Since the beginning of that diagnosis, I had high liver function test results which were very high during my IBD flare ups, things seem to have calmed down IBD wise - I don't take any medication for this now and apart from the odd bad day, usually when I've eaten something I probably shouldn't, its all been good

However, I've still had regular blood tests since my IBD diagnosis, I've now had 2 ultrasounds and a liver biopsy to see what's going on with my liver function tests, as they have been incredibly up/down

My consultant first thought I could have autoimmune hepatitis but he doesn't feel it is now, so, he's thinking it could be PBC?

I'm due to see him in a few weeks - just wondered how many other people out there have had a similar experience to me?

Keeping as positive as I can! 🤞🏻

Sounds like you doctor is doing the right thing and investigating for stuff like PBC, PSC (Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis) is another possibility. It's just PSC is less common in women than men, so exploring PBC first is probably sensible. There is a definite correlation with PSC and Bowel disease. I dont know too much about PBC and what links it has, but as the diseases do have some similarities it wouldn't surprise me if that too had some linkages also.
