Is my pain due to decomp cirrhosis? I think so…

Hi, has anyone experienced pain ( feels like a sore pulled muscle ) in the back behind liver area and I’ve also been getting some short sharp pain occasionally to the left of the liver area. I was told this might be gallstones which I only found out I have. On my file apparently at last consultant appointment last week. No one told me! Man this disease is not easy. I feel the like my medical information is top secret or something..

Have decompensated cirrhosis, TA end of July.

Thanks.

My husband is early in his cirrhosis diagnosis, we don't know yet if compensated/decompensated but he is having all tests to be referred for transplant. His first symptom was this pain which sometimes refers to his shoulder. There are no pain receptors in your liver, so what you are feeling is pain from the Glisson's capsule which covers liver, spleen, pancreas and gallbladder. Gallstones can be very painful if they move and block a bile duct. Liver and gallbladder function are heavily linked. Gallstones are commonly known yo be one of the most painful things you can have. If the pain continues for more than 3-6 hours I think the advice is go to hospital but check with NHS on that and get medical advice.

I get this all the time...like an ache at the back of my liver. Is yours there all the time? It's worse if I walk around or try to do too much

By the way my hepatologist told me you did get pain in the liver caused by congestion of blood due to the Nodular structure of the liver

Thanks for your reply. No, it’s not there all the time. Comes and goes but like your consultant says it could be very well down to the structure of the liver.
