I was diagnosed with liver cancer at the end of September last year, 2022.
After a scan I was told that I had one large tumour and several smaller ones, that the large tumour was near the main artery and was of a size that ruled out conventional treatment, liver transplant, radiotherapy, embolisation or any of the current methods of dealing with the tumour.
I accepted an offer of undergoing immunotherapy which seemed to be a satisfactory alternative treatment. I had several very encouraging reports from people who had great success with it. I started the treatment at the beginning of December but by Boxing Day I was admitted to hospital due to my bodies dramatic reaction to the treatment. I was in hospital for nearly a month recuperating and having many tests and scans. The medical staff had decided to discontinue the treatment and I was allowed to go home and rebuild my muscles and body weight. At the end of February the medical staff had secured funding to treat me with a fairly recent drug , Lenvatinib also known as Lenvima .
I have been on this treatment since early March and so far have had no dramatic side effects. There's not much information available on its use to treat liver cancer patients so I would be grateful if anyone who has experience of its use would share their knowledge.
Thank you.

I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It sounds very much like the diagnosis I had just over two years ago. The immunotherapy treatment I’m on is not the same as yours. I have a combination of Avastin and Tecentrique, which has reduced the tumour by half, and the CT scan has shown no cancer cell activity. So I am one of the 25% to respond totally to the treatment.
Each of the medications have a specific role. One stops the cancer from creating pathways to enable it to spread to different organs, the other to enable your cells to recognise and kill them.
I’m delighted to be able to say it’s been remarkably successful for me, with only minor side effects.
I wish you well and hope your treatment proves to be just as effective as mine.
