I can see my gp results via the NHS app, but not the hospital ones. I have to wait to see the liver nurse to be told every week. How can I get a print out or electronic copy?

Obtaining hospital blood test results
i’m the same … my gp ones are straight on the app . never see the hospital ones which i hate . like to see what’s going on with my bloods . don’t know why it’s like that!
Think I'm just going to take some paper with me n wrote them down at the next clinic
yea good idea . it’s a shame tho because the drs ones are on within a couple of days .
Exactly. And the hospital can see the doctors bloods so they must have a link
Hi
I was on the phone to my GP last week about something else, and I asked her if she could have a look at the results from my last 6 monthly bloods that I had done at the hospital. We didn’t have long, but she summarised for me.
Might be worth asking your GP to see if they can do a print out.
**Edit** She also had a look at my last 2 scans and was able to give me some feedback on those too! As I am functioning ‘normally’ my consultant doesn’t really contact me, but I always like to find out!!
I have a dedicated hepatology nurse who is an absolute angel. I'll message her a week after I've had any bloods done and she'll email the results through to me. Means I can go to my appointments forewarned and forearmed with any questions I have. Worth asking if you can do something similar.
You are able to request your medical records for free from the hospital you attend. Search on the hospitals website for ‘request for medical records’ or google the name of the hospital and the same phrase and it should come up. Usually it involves filling out a form and sending in some ID.
You can request all records or just for particular departments and dates, you can also request copies of scan images (these come password protected sent separately in the post on a CD rom, not usually compatible with Macs). One note is if you get your notes sent electronically and request images too, they’ll send the password to the scan images in the electronic records so make sure you take a note of it as at least on egress app you have 40 days to download the records to your computer before they are removed and you have to rerequest. Not sure about the nhs app.
You can either get paper copies of your records or get them sent to you electronically via nhs app or egress.
Just a warning that it can take a month or several months to get the results as they are usually very busy (most seem to have a target of a month) so if you’re in a hurry, probably better to contact the department direct.
Build a rapport with your consultants medical secretary, that has been my way forward. I have all my bloods and US reports sent over. And agreed, you would think your hospital reports would go onto the NHS app like the GP ones. 🤷♂️
Thank you, do they send them as they get them? Is this via email to you or as a document to your GP so you can see on the app?
My consultant sends a letter to my GP after each clinic sppointment and the GP puts it on the NHS Ap under correspondence. You could ask the consultant to do the same and include your blood results.
Alternatively, the consultant might print off the results for you if you ask.
