my husband has cirrhosis and although he has cut right down, he still drinks.
Last night he collapsed onto the floor and had chest pains. I called 999 and whilst on the phone to them, he stopped breathing. They talked me through CPR and within minutes he was breathing again and the paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital to be checked over. His bloods were all ok and he had a normal ECG. I think I was a little in shock because I didn’t ask why he had stopped breathing. We were allowed home and he is recovering but it has obviously shaken him. Has this happened to anyone else and do we assume that it had something to do with the cirrhosis? Thanks

Call me crazy but stopping drinking might be a good idea. If he says no, ask him what he thinks would have happened if you had happened to not be there, out shopping or wherever?
could this be the scare he needs? How does he feel about the fact that he could have died last night? Perhaps you could use this opportunity to lay it on very thick and scare him ****less! Very surprised they have let you home. Take care of yourself, am sure this has all been very shocking for you to deal with x
