I had pain in RUQ area. Lapro Choleycystectomy was done. After surgery Surgeon mentioned that my Liver wasn't looking normal, advised to reduce weight. Biopsy proved NASH ..NASH with stage 2 Fibrosis. I reduced my body weight through intense walking / jogging . Subsequent MRI revealed fat fraction in liver is only 3 to 4%, no evidence of ascites, normal spleen. I'm non diabetic, cholesterol levels normal . ARFI scan was carried out six months ago, mean shear wave velocity of 1.43m/s. Radiologist mentioned it as normal liver. Converted this shear wave velocity to kPa it would be around 6.13 kPa. My brother has NASH turned Cirrhosis and Portal hypertension. He is alcoholic too. How I can prevent further progress of this ?. At present I'm taking only Evion 400 and Milkthistle only. Kindly advise me...

NASH worries
Just keep doing what you are doing. Eat normal, carry on with the exercise, no need to go mad with it, just keep active should be enough and thats pretty much it, simple. No need for the milk thistle and Evion (whatever that is, lol). Your body is quite capable of looking after itself without the need for those extras. Dont believe the marketing hype, there's no proof they do anything for the liver, in fact there has been evidence that milk thistle could actually do some harm. Save your money for more useful things, like enjoying yourself.
Hi,Kristian, Thank you for your reply.. Would you please detail the statement "in fact there has been evidence that milk thistle could actually do some harm". Is there any published info ? It would be helpful if you could share links if any please.
Dear KLPAN
The British Liver Trust does not recommend the use of any homoeopathic or herbal remedies for those with any liver problems. For more information on this subject, including milk-thistle, please visit the following page on our website:
