Just letting the forum know of my change of status. On my second call to QE, Birmingham, there was an instantly more positive vibe about the possible transplant, and the operation took place about 12 hours after arriving at QE on 24/9/22. Surgeons very pleased with outcome. I have been in little- if any- pain.
Struggled a bit with feeling "spaced out" presumably due to strong meds. Maybe starting to feel more myself. QE is 2 hours each way from home, and it was hard being away from husband and family. After discharge on Sunday 2nd Oct, had to go back to QE on Monday 3rd- clinic, and Thursday 6th, clinic. Believe might not have to go back to QE now until Thurs 13th.
Very grateful for excellent medical care, and love and support from my darling husband and friends and colleagues. So glad to be home and hopefully all positive from here. Don't feel as if I am getting any sleep, but doing ok with distraction of home, and tv etc. One step at a time! Love and best wishes to all.

Have you looked into local community transport groups, my husband drives for one, much cheaper then a taxi and some trips to hospital are covered by our local doctors, and are much cheaper then a taxi if you dont ask you dont get
Fantastic news to here ..my husband has just been put on the list last week at QE also. Can i ask did your husband stay in birmingham while you were in hospital .i will be the one taking mine when we get the call and planning on staying close by in a b&b .
Well done! Take it nice and slow ok. I had my transplant at the QE nearly two and a half years ago now. The best team ever. I always look forward to going back to clinic just to see everyone.

Im 5 1/2 years post, the spaced out feeling could well be from your meds but they will be reduced over time. Take things slowly and dont rush your recovery.
If you use Facebook we have a wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable group called liver transplant support uk.
You'll be on weekly appointments for the next couple of weeks and if all is going well those will quickly go to fortnightly, then 3 weekly then 4. So travel will be less burdonsome.
Congratulations on your transplant, now onwards and upwards. Remember to take it easy and its baby steps for the first few months, youll feel invincible because of the meds but rest is key to your recovery. I was very fortunate to only live 10 mins away from my transplant hospital so didnt have the worries of getting to and from appointments, I'm now 2 years post. I wish you a speedy bump free recovery x
