Hope everyone doing well π I posted on here a few weeks back as my husband was going through tests as part of the work up for liver transplant. We had our Assessment in Kings last week and flew back to Belfast on Wednesday, we got the call on Friday to say he has been put on the list!!! π we are so happy and relieved and hope we donβt have to wait too long. I feel bad saying that we are happy as I know some poor family will be grieving π

Hi Danny. Congratulations on getting placed on the list. It's an anxious time when you are going through all the tests and then waiting to hear. Then it's the next stage of bag packed and listening for the phone ( the bag that in all probability you won't need anything out of for at least 3 days ) Hope that your call comes very soon. Very best wishes. Alf.
that is good news ! I am sure there are many on the forum who know exactly how it feels in this situation and I am sure they will all support you through.
I have attached the link to the British Liver trust information on liver transplant.
Thats fantastic news, hopefully wonβt be too long for the magic call. Please keep us all updated on your journey, wish your husband best wishes whilst he waits patiently. Jane xx
Great news Danny πππ. You have every right to be happy but of course you think about the donor. Everyone does. I still do a year on. You may feel a bit better when you manage to get to the point when you write a thank you letter to the family. To me that was a very difficult task but I did feel better after I had hand delivered it to the Transplant coordinator.
I do hope you get the call soon - probably at 2:30 in the morning π., but any time will do! Good luck to you both.
Congratulations had mine six months ago and being on here has been invaluable.but itβs been hard work recovering but the difference it makes to your life is staggering. And Iβll never take life for granted again.wish you both well.paul
My husband is due to have his assessment tests in the coming weeks at Kings, we are just awaiting for his inpatient date. They are looking to put him on the liver and kidney transplant list. It has all come a little earlier than anticipated, we thought we may have another year of the bucket list travels. He is positive that they can be resumed after transplant which is the mentality I am going to encourage.
You mention you are in Ireland, did they say how quickly you will need to get to Kings if you get 'the call'?
Yes we live in N Ireland and we were told to make sure we have our phones on at all times and have our bags packed as we will need to leave as soon as we get the call. Patient travel made the arrangements for us to go over last week so Iβm assuming they will do the same when we do get the call. Yes itβs good to be positive and you will be able to continue with your travels, we hope to be able to do the same. Take care in the meantime π
If you are planning on going away for a few days whilst on the list, you need to let the Transplant Co ordinator know. All will be explained at the education session when he gets accepted. π All the very best for your husband and I hope the assessment goes well. π
I had my TP at QEHB so know nothing about Kings but our rules were:-
Had to be able to leave the house in one hour.
Were not allowed to use public transport to get to QEHB. If we got stuck in traffic they would send a police escort.
You couldnβt travel abroad for 6 months after the TP.
Personally we never went further from the Hospital than the distance from our house once on the list. Then you are also βsupposedβ to take your overnight bag with you wherever you go.
My hubby was listed on a Tuesday and had his transplant on the Friday Danny. Think he was very lucky though. Mind and pack a wee bag for yourself too .π€
