hello everyone and I hope you are all well.

I'm a alcoholic of 10 years and just turned 30 . I've been drinking very heavily for the past 7 years. I've given up for weeks/months but can never end up quitting for good.

I ended up drinking half of bottle of vodka, which Led me to drink 2 more.

so two and a half bottles of smirnoff with no food and I ended up vomiting black ended up at the hospital for a detox but wasn't given any detox meds, only glucose and other vitamins put into me through a needle.

my question is: my bloods for the liver came back normal: Alp,alt ect.

bilrubin was 25.

and amylase was 188.

could someone explain what's this indicating?. Doctor didn't say much and I didn't ask much due to my health at the time.

thanks very much

We arn't qualified or allowed to comment on specific results, it may mean you've not yet damaged your liver (however that's not a full set of liver test results so can't tell) BUT shouldn't give you the green light to carry on your pattern of drinking.

Seek help to tackle your alcohol use, visit your GP who should discuss your hospital results with you and hopefully provide pointers towards a safe withdrawal from alcohol.

You certainly don't want to keep consuming booze at this level - you say your worried about your pancreas then do something about it. Your liver and all your organs are precious and booze is poison.

You are so young azz101. Please seek help without delay as you are drinking far too much. Continue your addiction and there will be no happy ending. I was in a City last week where there were young people whose drink problem lead them to being homeless and having to sleep rough on the streets. I spoke to one of them and their story was extremely sad having come from a wealthy family and going to University in that City. Please, please see your Doctor and be totally honest. May your life change. Heartfelt thoughts.

hey everyone thank you for all your replies and concerns. I really appreciated your time given. I just came off the call with the doctor and he said that its nothing to do with my pancreas and LFTs can be all over the place after drinking so heavy. He assured me amylace is a pancreas emzyne but nothing to do with pancreatitis in my case. I once again dodged a bullet and need to quif drinking for good. ITS brought me too many issues since i started and it gets worse everytime i drink.

Thank you everyone who viewed the post and also replied. I shall start my AA classes and private therpy from next week. God bless you all

Rather than worrying about the results I would focus on the cause/cure. With drinking like that its only a matter of time before you do some serious / irreversible damage to yourself.

You know all this but you're drinking yourself to death, so my question to you would be, do you want to live?

Thank you everyone for replying and I really do appreciate the help. I've had enough of drinking and am now on my way to a healthy, normal and sober life. I've not picked up in 2 months and plan to never touch it again. Thanks, once again
