I think Birmingham is difficult for hotels. There’s the usual chain stuff in the city centre. The hospital is a bit out of the city but has good rail links because it’s next to the University station. There’s the Park Hotel, which is nice but not cheap, it’s a conference hotel on the outskirts of the university campus. So walkable. The other option...and this really is a nice hotel...is The Edgbaston. It’s in Edgbaston...the name gives it away! It’s a smallish boutique type hotel set out of the city and near the Botanical gardens if you want to relax when you’re waiting. The service is fantastic and the rooms are tranquil. It’s about a 10 min walk to Five Ways station which is the next one down from the university station and once away from the station it’s actually a nice stroll. It ain’t cheap...but not ridiculous by Birmingham standards...it’s in a really nice safe area.

My daughter moved to Edgebaston a few months ago and it is a very nice area of the city. The Botanic Gardens are lovely and have a nice cafe, the perfect place to pace while your waiting, and better than pacing in a hotel room.

Hi lippy, my partner stayed at the premier inn at Rubery, it’s on the a38 just as you come into Birmingham from the south. About 20 mins from the hospital, next to a huge Morrisons!! We also stayed there during assessment time.

I've stayed this Premier Inn. No idea how close it was to QE but the Premier Inn itself was good - friendly with a pub to eat at and as you say Morrisons round the corner plus a retail park at the side which included a cinema and other things to distract you if you're waiting around.

There’s a nice small hotel at the back of the mailbox. Pretty central but near some nice restaurants and shops and overlooking the canal too. I’ve stayed there several times quite comfortably. Good luck
