The best Christmas gift update.

Identity75 profile image

I received my call at 0400 hrs Christmas Eve, by 0700 I was on the table going to sleep and about to receive the best gift anyone could ever give. 8 hours later and I’m done and in ICU, by 1300hrs Christmas Day I’m enjoying my Christmas dinner.

So many emotions right now. Everything happened so quickly it hasn’t all sunk in yet.

I hope everyone has had the best Christmas. Merry Christmas and a happy New Years

Glad to see you doing well. I was in the same situation this time last year, had my transplant on the 22nd of December. My last Christmas wasn't great, bad trips on morphine and oxycodone, developed a burning fever on the third day and despised a couple of the nurses.

Managed to recover very quickly though and am now almost back to my old self.

Forget everything you've gone through, it will only get better from now on 😊

Remarkable picture.

I thought I was doing well drinking soup at 48 hours !

But I can remember feeling the energy returning like a flood gate has been opened. From the look of you, that's where you are heading.

Keep up the good work and make sure we are all updated with your progress.

Its wonderful encouragement for those waiting.

I think the morphine has made you delirious if you have enjoyed hospital food lol . Seriously I am so pleased for you and I can remember feeling very emotional. I also had weird dreams vivid dreams which were abit frightening , but that's just the effects of having been under so long for op which I wish someone had mentioned to me. Keep us all posted and have a brill recovery . Merry Xmas and happy new year 🙂 X

Gaynor,

Agree with you - the hallucinations were amazing. There was a world that only I could see and it wasn't always pleasant.

Maybe we could raise the issue a bit more to prepare others in the forum who are waiting for their transplant.

Jim

in reply toLAJ123

My hallucinations were awful! I was seeing people who weren't in the room and the worst one was "overhearing" the doctors saying they'd give my transplanted liver to some other guy, they'd used my body as a vessel to keep the organ alive 🤤😅

Ko,

My pain relief was changed because I knew the 'visions' were not real.

There must be some who don't say what they are seeing because they fear being labelled as 'insane'

I'm sure we could all share some very interesting stories of our intensive care experiences.

That would be a good idea because I went to some dark scary places and when I mentioned it to nurses nobody said anything it's only through other tx patients I realised I wasn't going mad or having a foreboding lol xx

Totally agree Jim, I had full on ITU psychosis and it was no fun at all. Some sort of education for patients is a great idea. But on a brighter note, goddamn Identity75! You look amazing mate!

2 year old post, not sure how identity75 is doing now - been a good few months since he posted. Was a delight at the time to see him tucking into such a feast the day after t/p.

Wow! fantastic Christmas present. What a quick recovery too! Absolutely amazing!!

I don't think that I ate for about 3 days. In fact I wasn't even awake for 24 hours after surgery.

You look so well.

I'm laughing at the notice on the food tray...…...I don't think that you do need any help with cutting up your food :-) :-)

May you go from strength to strength in your recovery.

Very best wishes.

Alf

Just saw that picture up there on the board and thought wow! Just got to comment on that!

Didn't think to look at the date with there being references to Christmas eve.

I reckon that's the quickest transplant and back to normal eating that I've ever seen on here :-) :-)
