Just wondering if jaundice can happen slowly over time, as it builds up. Often hear stories of folks suddenly waking up yellow with an acute attack, but my husband is waiting transplant and although his bilirubin remains relatively stable, it is obviously persistently out of range. He had a bout of jaundice when we first started this journey, but recently I've noticed he looks tinged with yellow more often. Mostly he just looks tanned as he has quite a natural high colour to his skin - but if you look around his collar and chest where his skin is paler he seems quite yellowy. When he's feeling really rough, it's more obvious , has a slight grayish/greeny tinge too. Or, am I completely imagining all this???? Maybe he's a chameleon- he has defo developed a trick of wearing green jumpers - they make him look much better 🤣
Jaundice: Just wondering if jaundice can... - British Liver Trust
Jaundice
I always notice it most (and any changes) in the whites of my partners eyes. His bilirubin jumped up by 11 recently and it was instantly noticeable in his eyes
His eyes are sometimes creamy, colour of Jersey milk and blood shot but not yellow - its either all very subtle or I'm imagining it. I can definitely tell when his lactoluse/toilet routines have been interupted 🤔
This is exactly what I've noticed! Just recently I've been staring at my husband's eyes...and can't tell if I'm imagining it or they are slightly creamy colour...not bright yellow, that would be easy to spot!I've noticed it come and go, so wondered if it is just where bilirubin is fluctuating...he is completely well otherwise (well, as well as someone is with cirrhosis). Do you think it is just part and parcel of the disease or something to raise with GP?
