I've just got over covid and recent blood test showed slightly raised ferritin levels. Doc wants me to have retest in 3 months and mentioned its likely to be due to recent covid. No mention of increased lfts which have gone up mildly in past but are now normal. I'm getting worried about liver damage since I googled (stupidly!) causes of ferritin increases. Anyone out there think I should be worried? I get health anxiety and am feeling very anxious about this. I am feeling fatigued but not sure if this is anxiety or symptom!

Just found out figure which is only very slightly raised for ferritin and alt reduced again since last test so feeling much more positive. Will get retested in 3 months as advised tho.
Hi and welcome,
Repeating the blood tests is good practice then the GP will have a comparable set of results to look at.
Goggling will only worsen your health anxiety. Keep us posted how your blood tests go and take care

Hiya. I have HH (Hereditary Haemochromatosis) also known as GH. It is an inherited genetic mutation which causes very high levels of iron in the blood & consequently very high Ferritin. Doctors don't always do a test for HH during routine bloods. Your Ferritin can rise significantly after a virus, illness or similar but it would do no harm to ask your Doc about HH if your levels are still raised after another blood test. I just thought I'd mention it but please don't go & worry unnecessarily!
