??? Just worried

I know some of you have been very kind and I’m just asking again but was just wondering would my son have been offered a scan of some sort straight away and not wait 2 weeks. I’m just asking how long they would wait if they were going to give him a scan. Thankyou

They would only arrange to do a scan if the bloods revealed that there was something that warranted further investigation. At the moment you don't know if that is even the case. You'll need to wait and find out what they discuss at the telephone appointment next week.

in reply to AyrshireK

Thankyou but do you think they would wait 2 weeks

Julie you are still getting yourself overly worked up when you don't yet know if there is even something to be concerned about.

Doctor will discuss the findings of the blood tests and if they do think your son needs further test they will tell him so then get them organized.

Waiting times for scans are about 12 weeks (for an urgent) in our area at present so sometimes you just have to be patient.

As others have said if there was anything of any major concern or urgency it wouldn't be a case of organizing a 'routine' phone appointment it would be a case of 'get yourself to hospital' and that isn't the scenario you are currently facing.

Your son has no symptoms that you've described, initial borderline bloods and whatever the more recent ones have shown.

You are still way over thinking this and getting yourself into an unnecessary tizzy.

Katie

Thankyou Katie I know I’m working myself into a frenzy you are being so kind and listening to me though and I really appreciate it when you have so much going on yourself. Thankyou so much again. Xx

Hi julie i think it depends on what his bloods show up ..

Julie, if there was something really wrong with the blood work up they would not wait 2 weeks. If you are anywhere near as anxious about this with the doctor they may have even moved you from seeing the doctor from 6 weeks to 2 weeks just to set your mind at ease. As soon as my doctor received my blood work she called me the same day and had already set-up an ultrasound.

She did that because my blood work was a cause for concern. Your Dr. would likely have done the exact same thing or at the very least run additional blood work if they expected something was wrong. As far as you know his cholesterol could be high and they just want to chat about eating healthier.

Thankyou your being so kind because I know I’m being a pain and I don’t mean to be. Sorry x

Julie

you are not a pain :)

But we are worried, not for your son but for you. Anxiety is very serious. I think of our mental wellbeing as a line of dominoes, when one falls if we do not stop it, it tips the next one and that tips the next until they all start falling.

Anxiety leads to chronic stress and depression and the long term effect of these must have a physical consequence. So I am concerned that you are not getting the quality of life you deserve. There are different ways to give you back your life, either via medication or preferably therapy.

You really need to take your own health more importantly. This is a liver forum but, we would love it if you would beat this problem and bring us your updates rather than your sons possibly minor problems. You're halfway through your life, you left school about 30+ years ago and have another 30+ years to live, you should be using that time to make some wonderful memories, holidays, celebrating occasions, milestones, enjoying the company of loved ones, family and friends. Not sat on google, with anxiety exaggerating every possibility to the point where you are compelled to search for answers to questions that have not even been asked by a doctor.

We want everyone to be healthy, if you can make that first step in contacting your doctor, telling them your anxiety is out of control and that you need help to control it... you would make us happy.

Wishing you and your son well

Dave.

Hi Dave that is such a wonder heartfelt message I don’t know what to say. I know your right and I need some help with. I know this is a liver forum with people struggling everyday with a chronic illness and I’ve took up so much of their time. I will go and get some help and also I’m going to leave the forum as well because it’s not fair expecting answers from all these people. Thankyou for your time and kindness and everyone else. I wish you and all others and their family’s best health and happiness for the future x

in reply to

Dave is so right Julie, you need to stop googling. It's not doing you any good and it's probably increasing your sons anxiety having you panicking all over the place. Please don't leave, as Dave said, we'd love an update when your son gets his results.

Take care of yourself xx

in reply to

Hi jacky Thankyou my son doesn’t even know I’m googling it’s just me also I know something is wrong because doctors don’t call with normal results. I really think his enzymes have elevated again and not gone down. Im sorry im just so so scared x

You do not have to leave Julie, we welcome all input. it can be simply something you do that helps someone get to sleep or a favourite recipe that is healthy or even some good news we absolutely love good news, it is wonderful for morale.

You are part of our community, you do not need liver disease to support, participate, share a like or a laugh... you just have to belong and Julie, you do belong.

We are just worried about you as we worry about any of our community. So I'm hoping for regular updates and you making a lot of happy memories.

Dave

Thankyou Dave my post was not against yourself or anyone else that’s been kind I just feel it’s not right for me to post on this forum anymore. It’s not helping you guys and it’s not helping me. I’m not coping and even though all the comments are mostly kind there is always one which isn’t and I reported it and nothing was done. I feel now it’s time to leave as it’s not helping me. Thankyou

Hi Julie

I thought I had posted but maybe it was deleted 🤷‍♀️. As Dave said no body wants you to leave the group. I have not been on here long but have found the support fantastic- like you I googled lots it was this forum and talking to trust1 thank made me stop. When you said you were leaving the group I noticed that you put the following in the Anxiety group.

I’ve googled everything also joined the liver forum on here I’ve not ate and not slept hardly. The people on the liver forum some were nice others horrible calling me a air head and telling me to jog on.

At first I was upset/angry well for about a minute when I then realised it’s probably your anxiety making you read into things that haven’t been said…. Not sure I have ever seen a post saying to job on etc.

Anyway echo everything dave has said about getting help and letting you know this group is there for everyone - let us know how your son gets on.

Virtual Hugs 🤗

Thankyou for your reply it’s very nice and yes most people have been lovely. I was called a airhead and told to jog on by a member who then removed the comment I do have a screenshot of this but don’t think it’s appropriate to show it on here. Thankyou for being kind. X

Sometimes people on here are having a bad time themselves and make a comment they later regret and remove it. It’s not great when it happens but the forum seems to have a way of regulating itself. You’ll often find forum members correcting each other. It would be a shame if you left this forum because of something like that. There is strong support, a genuine concern for others, a whole heap of knowledge and experience, and you can have a bit of fun too if you want. I think people are worried about you because in their view you are over worrying. Remember many on here have been really sick with liver disease and have therefore become quite conditioned to hugely deranged bloods and bad news around scans. Me included. So a slight elevation in bloods is something many would be celebrating about! That doesn’t take away from the fact you are worried. Stick with the forum, listen to the advice and soak up the support.

in reply to Aotea2012

Thankyou for a lovely reply. I do completely understand that lots of people on here are living with this horrible disease it’s awful I to know what it’s like to have someone addicted to something as well which again would never make judge. I do really appreciate all the support I’m getting and I understand I’m being a pain and looking for answers from you guys that you can’t give. I’ve not once been rude to anyone though it’s not hard to be kind. That’s all. It Thankyou xx

There are lots of different liver diseases, many unrelated to addiction.

The thing is , it can take some time to get all the tests needed to diagnose, or rule out, health conditions. You seem to be in a state of high stress, which is really, really bad for your health, especially the longer it goes on.

People here are trying to help you see things from a different perspective. As far as I know none of us are medical professionals, but we are 'experts' because of our experiences. You came here for support, we really are trying to help you. No one is telling you stuff to make you feel better, but because we believe what we say.

I'm so sorry you're struggling so much, I hope you can find some peace x

Easy one to answer to this one - no.

There's a standard protocol GPs follow set down by NICE. Basically that says if a blood test is deranged next action is to do another blood test.

in reply to Kristian

This is 2nd bloods though

Hey Julie

As Aotea has said, we do have some very bad dark days. Unfortunately, depression is a very active side effect of liver disease, which is why we love good news so much. Yes we can lash out or vent at times and often it is not aimed at whoever receives the message it is just an outlet for pent up emotion so do not take it personally.

We want you here, you are already a member and a part of our community. We welcome your posts because it gives us a chance to write, to contribute and that alone makes us feel better. :)

It was me that made the jog on comment and it was taken Totaly out of context!Julie posted everyone was being nice today

Danny posted "its early yet" and as a joke I posted "Jog on".

It's called humorous banter.

I assured Julie by PM that if I had wanted to insult her I would do a much better job than saying "jog on"!

Mental illness is worse than physical illness.

I wish the poster well

Julie, you don't go anywhere.....Please listen to Dave. I had some troubles with anxiety, I didn't know what it was. Dave suffered from the condition (yes a condition). Everyone on here knows all about blood tests and results. Elevated bloods are something we deal with all the time. Mine are still elevated after my transplant. They are the exact same as 2 weeks ago (biopsy has been mentioned again) and I'm not going to let it bother me (life is too short). Now people are more concerned with you and this forum for liver disease comes hand in hand with anxiety. People understand......ok.......x

Hi all and thank you for your input to this thread. I'll close it now for comments. Best wishes
