Stones in Bile Duct

Hi,

I’m new here so bear with me if this has been asked previously (and please feel free to point me in the right direction of where to find the info)

As per my bio, I had my gallbladder removed in 2009, but continue to suffer with reoccurring stones in my bile duct every 2 years which results in me being hospitalised and them being removed via ERCP. I’ve just been discharged from hospital and am awaiting ERCP at beginning of Feb but in the meantime wondered if there is anyone else that suffers regularly?

My consultants currently viewpoint is treat me once I have a flare up but I believe there has to be a better way so am interested in any advice that there may be to stop the stones reoccurring.

I never received any dietary advice following my original surgery and was treated as a bit of an anomaly (I was 25 at the time, low BMI, good diet etc).

Hi Fern sorry to hear about the stones mine where really painful but I still have my gallbladder as they can’t remove it (waiting liver transplant) I had ERCP to remove stones then they put in pig’s tail stent’s 4 of them. Unfortunately within days three came out through my stoma, they said it was unusual to lose them like that but is possible, I was standing with all three cleaned and in a plastic bag so no argument there 🤣. That was a year ago just about to have the 4th one taken out, a bit worried because I have had no problems. Don’t know if they have spoken to you about them or maybe they can’t fit them to you for some reason but good luck I know it hurts, I hope they can do something 👍.Stay Safe All
