Hello. I had a Fibroscan in Dec and am booked to have blood tests with the GP later this month. I’m guessing they will do LFT, but what else might they do? Would be good to hear from anyone who has had one recently. Thanks.
Blood test: Hello. I had a Fibroscan in... - British Liver Trust
Blood test
Regarding liver you can also do: vitamin B12, D3, ferratin, iron, AFP, lipid profile (LDH, HDL etc.), creatinine, glucose, CRP, liver function: INR, bilirubin, albumin.
But the best check this with your hepatologist.
Hello Runner, There is another test that GP's now have available in their arsenal of tricks, and this is the ELF test (enhanced liver fibrosis). This test is primarily for identifying liver fibrosis, but the results can be tweaked to identify fatty liver too.
This test also provides more information about how the liver is working. Depending on the out come, further tests or scans may be required. Speak to your GP about having an ELF test done, this test is more reliable than a LFT.
Please let us know how you get on.
Good Luck
Richard.
