Stopping meds and ascites improving

My partner has depression, end stage liver disease and cirrhosis.

Recently he suffered a mental break and has now not taken any of his tablets for over two weeks.

Normally he drains 17 litres of ascites fluid every seven days. The last two weeks he has drains 8 litres

He had been taking furosemide, vitamin D, Rifarixim, Allopurinol, Sertraline, Quinine, Mirtazepine, Prednisolone and Midodrine.

Does anyone have any experience of any of those exacerbating the ascites?

Thanks

hi there,i have ascites too but it was only drained once.. Im not on meds anymore for that.. My doctor told me not to eat salty or better yet dont add salt to any of your food because it retains fluid in the stomach.. It was so hard dealing with ascites where you cant move freely..

I hope that will help a little, try to avoid salty food..

I would encourage you to make sure his doctors know that he is choosing to not take his tablets, and to see if they can review him.

Please also take care of yourself, this must be very difficult for you too.
