There you go Dean ... it means nothing worth knowing. You have been diagnosed with cirrhosis, sadly but you are looking after yourself, living with it and not dying from it. You are alive .... oh and what was the result of your pregnancy test? 😉

People so wraped-up in these enzymes, the medical profession really need to change the name of the alt/ast , which most look at them as liver enzymes, they seem to think, if they are normal then they don't have cirrhosis or if they are high they do have cirrhosis, they only mean you do, or you do not have inflammation going on at the time of your labs. You have stopped drinking, therefore your alt/ast ha gone back to range (congrats). My doc, always say look at the platelets because they are usually low and this usually get the doctors' attention that something is going on.

Thank you. I’d never heard of this ratio ‘thing’ before I saw it on here. Yes my platelets are low at 120 on my last bloods.

Were they low at the time of your diagnoses?

That's really great, i wish all people that have liver disease due to drinking, stop drinking, I see so many continue to drink and have Liver Disease or continue to worry about their liver and still drinking, for people like me that doesn't have it due to drinking ,just don't understand. Congrats!

That must be frustrating for you to see. Unfortunately addiction is a powerful thing. 🥴
