Hello
I am hoping there will be people here who have some expertise and able to advise me further if possible.
I have had several repeated blood tests where my Gamma GT result has been raised. It was 65 and now it is 71. I used to drink a reasonable amount (14-20 units a week) but since the first abnormal result in March 21 I have drank hardly anything (only twice on my birthday and anniversary). My GGT has not reduced and has actually increased. All my other tests are within range (though my ALP has risen in last 2 years and is now 107). I have a family history, my mum passed with bile duct and liver cancer so I am worried. I have had an US reported as normal but why won’t the GGT come down? I’ve read it takes between 2-6 weeks of not drinking but I have had 6 weeks completely alcohol free before 2 tests and no change, increase after the last one. I am not obese, don’t have diabetes, take no meds except oestrogen gel for menopause. Nothing else I can think of which could be relevant. My GP is not taking me seriously, repeat tests in 3 months time, but what more can I do if I am already not drinking? How serious is this, I was hoping to be able to drink a little to have some social life or is this unrealistic??
Any thoughtful or info would be welcome, thank you so much if there is anyone out there who has experiences this or who could help.
