Recently had abdominal scan to include liver , pancreas , spleen , & kidneys t was scheduled due to elevated liver enzymes GGT and alt .. scan came back clear all but small detection of fatty liver i was told .. however repeated blood tests have shown no improvement in GGT & AST and now dr is sending me to see a specialist .. i feel great , lost 10kg in the last few months , no alcohol .. anyone any ideas ... this has set me back massively , making myself feel ill with worry
High liver enzymes: Recently had... - British Liver Trust
High liver enzymes
I was also advised after pelvic scan i have small 1.5cm fibroid in or around uterus , but i guess that doesnt have any impact on liver enzymes ...🤷♀️
Exactly the same Been going on for months.
Diet, exercise no alcohol
But yet alt was 60+ then 42 now 66
Ggt was 66 now 74
So fed up been on waiting list for ages
I can’t do anymore I’m scared to eat.
Even had an emergency cat scan and they said can’t see anything
I don’t know why pain is so harsh and why a ct scan can show nothing if ultrasound shows fatty liver.
Ive been told my fatty liver is v minor and nothing to worry about 🤷♀️. Ive no pain in abdomen or anywhere ,, same as u , sick with worry , cant eat with worry also
Well I would say if you are not in any pain and they have said you are ok then you are ok
What are your bloods say now
If you had been told there WAS something wrong would you feel better?
🤔 not sure what that means .. i wish i was told there was nothing wrong with me ... i am worried as to why my LFTs are high, & i am worried as to what news the gastroentolisist is going to deliver 🤷♀️
I am the same. Only my GGT is 130. I keep asking doctors but no answers. The only difference here that I had gallblader removal in March. But the surgeon sent me to mri and CT and said all is fine. Well, four months problems non stop. It hurts and lfts are high....
Mine hurts like something has ripped inside and as enzymes elevated then something has to be wrong But ct scan said fine
I promised myself I would not come on here as it only fuels the anxiety about it but we keep searching for answers don’t we.
Wonder has anyone made a link between high liver enzymes and celiac disease 🤔
My sr in law has autoimmune liver disease and has also been diagnosed coeliac so maybe 🤷🏻♀️
I have the gene for celiacs (currently only struggle with intolerance and celiacs is not active) But my aunt has fatty liver and celiac’s. Part of a “link” if it is so is the diet. Many gluten-free substitutes are high in enriched rice flour and a host of other things that aren’t the best for the liver and pancreas. Thyroid also comes into play in this equation.
Let us know how you get on.
Hi George,
Sorry to read that you are so worried, hopefully you can see the specialist soon and can investigate matters.
Keep us posted
Thank you so much . Dr google is doing me no favours , i know i shouldnt be looking at it but impossible not too ... i felt 100% yesterday before my call from the doctor .. today I'm a nervous wreck with every symptom possible
Dr Google is a pain. But totally understand. I was told I had PBC in June my ALP score was 748 and also high Bilirubin - 47. I've seen specialist Dr and had a Fibroscan. For me the news is not great - It would seem I've probably has this for years! I am 56 - lots of people seem to have it picked up when they are younger. I am on URSO now and waiting to have my first set of bloods measured - Hoping they will come down. Take care and try to be positive - I know it's hard.
