Hello Friends. I understand that my higher LFTs and US scans are making my fibroscan ordered by gastroenterologist legitimate. I will definitely do it and hope the test is ok and who knows what kind of surprises I may get. But ....because my surgeon was kinda (kind of...) skeptical about my liver disease--, I wonder--- if there is something to do with a kickback... the test is 90 dollars.
I wonder if paid tests are all legit.. - British Liver Trust

The health care system in the UK is very different to that in Canada. If you are sceptical, I would encourage you to seek a second opinion.

I was just curious because of my recent experience with another doctor.... but I will gladly do my fibroscan. And if the systems are different, we can't compare.
That's cheap!Self pay in UK is 4 times that.
I think its well worth 90 dollars to have peace of mind if its all OK!
I think the fibroscan is a positive move in that it will give you some peace of mind either way. Me personally i would want to know. As long as the $90 is within budget I think it's a good thing
Thank you. I agree. I did it today and my interpretation of the numbers is good. 4.9 and 220 of something.
Great the numbers seem good. I hope it has put your mind at rest.
Wow, my US was $1700 😂 grateful for medical insurance. I am in CA, USA. Well worth the $90 for peace of mind, they are probably just trying to be thorough
There were two prices one is 90 dollars and something higher. Mine was 90. I saw only three numbers on screen. Perhaps, it is still low because Healthcare systems in the US and Canada are very different... probably partially it is covered by public health insurance.
