Hi to all, I'm new here just introducing myself with a bit of background.
In April 2021 I ended up in hospital with sepsis after 4 courses of antibiotics failed to cure a UTI. It turned out that I have several kidney stones and a PUJ blockage, a nephrostomy was performed on the left kidney to relieve pressure on the kidney. I still have a nephrostomy bag in place
Several ultrasounds, xrays, and CT's were done and I was informed that I have cirrhosis. I have a hepatology appointment on the 19th of May after which I hopefully will know more.
Whilst in hospital I was asked "how much alcohol do you drink?" Now I am not a heavy drinker and had nothing since mid February when I started to feel ill.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will get lots of support from fellow members.
Here are some links to information you might find useful including the patient charter - what care you should expect to receive with a diagnosis of liver disease.
We do have a free telephone helpline as well if you would like to talk to one of our liver specialist nurses. Mon- Fri 10:00 - 15:00 0800 652 7330
Hi, gosh I’m sorry, you went through the mill there! The first question they will always ask is your alcohol intake now, intake over the years. After assessing all your answers they will do further tests to see if there is any other reason for it, of which there are quite a lot, mainly bloods to start with. They may do a scan. Once they know then you will know a lot more, such as what level it is at, if you need to be on a specific diet or plan. There is a lady on here, her husband sees a doctor for cirrhosis and his doctor has had people on his books for years who have cirrhosis, they are eating healthy, exercising, not drinking etc.., . Ai wish you all the best on the 19th and please let us know 🌻
Thank you for your reply. I know I can be grateful for lots especially that I have no withdrawal symptoms and support from my wife. I've noticed that my latest blood tests are slightly better than the previous ones. I am not denying that I have been drinking but luckily never to the extent that alcohol governed my life. Looking at the scan results some ask the question "is there clinical concern for liver disease?" While another's result is chronic liver disease. We should have the answers on the 19th. Best wishes.
