I had appendicitis and had my appendix take out. I had a CT scan while in hospital. They mentioned that I had a Kidney stone on my discharge summary. I wondered if they would have mentioned Cirrhosis/ liver damage if it was present?
Am worried as I am an alcoholic. Although I have stopped now for good. 3 months dry now.
Hope everyone is keeping positive out there. Is really tough.

I'd try not to worry about what happened when you had your appendix removed regarding your long term drinking, I think you should be standing back and patting yourself on the back for being a quarter of a year SOBER! I have just past over 9 years sobriety and I never thought I'd see this day let alone do all the things I have done, the days soon go into weeks, and then months, and then years, and I never set any goals, but we are all different, the main important factor is that you stay away from the demon drink, keep on track with any other health issues that may arise from the fall out from drinking, and these are treatable most times with the help from your doctor or hospital depending if you have any serious liver disease, don't worry yourself of the planet, allot of the time its all about 'ifs' and 'buts' so are you feeling healthy, are you going to stay sober, eat a well balanced diet, and you'll find life is so easy,it can seem daunting at the beginning, and that's where the pressure of reaching for the bottle may arise, but DON'T BE TEMPTED, as its a vicious circle of starting the whole process up again, and the mind is stuck on a constant roll a coaster, as well as the body, but stick at it ,and who knows you'll be giving out good knowledge and information on the forum in years to come, I wish you well on your journey to be safe and sober, best wishes.
I have to disagree. I went in for pain I thought for sure was a kidney stone, I have had them before. They did a routine contrast CT and found diverticulitis instead. What I did NOT know and was NOT told by anyone Doctor or nurses, was the CT scan also found a "mildly nodular liver suggesting Cirrhosis". I looked into the ER doctors notes to find it. I took the case to my GP of 37 years and he has sent me to my GI doctor for followup. It was never mentioned. If I hadn't seen it in the notes, I still would not know.
Thank you. Really appreciate your info and support! Have been eating well. Need to exercise more tho. Going to a support group later. Still concerned about my health as I drank for a long time. But trying to stay positive.
