I wrote last week about my partners detox. From 1litre of vodka a day to.. Well, he ceased all alcohol on Sunday after reducing from Weds. A little shaky for a couple of days. Diarrhoea on Monday but now no outward effects to be seen. He is in good spirits. He’s eating and exercising/walking.
The ease at which he’s done this allows him to tell me “ see, I told you I wasn’t an alcoholic” He does have cancer metastasis in his liver. Is it still too early to think this has been a success ? What should I be looking out for?

The short answer is YES, too early to call this a success. Whether he identifies as alcoholic or not, he clearly has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.
It is neuroendocrine cancer - with primary in small bowel with mets to liver and other locations. Treatment is ongoing. Prognosis is usually good.. not curable but treatable in most cases.
I thought you were referring to is kicking the alcohol a success. If the cancer is in his liver he really needs to think about that when comes to drinking (all lifestyle really)
Sorry this has got to be hard to see him go through this
Hi,
Is your partner under the care of the alcohol services? They would be best placed to safely advise on detox.
