I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with health insurance while travelling to America and other places where insurance is extremely expensive and sometimes extortionately so. I received a list of recommended providers from the administrators on here but I seemed to have lost the information. Could I ask if the admin people could kindly share that information again with me please and thank you as it would be so helpful. If anyone else has recommendations of best price health insurance providers for travelling post liver transplant patients that would be amazing and thank you all in advance. I will of course check them all out and share on here any further information I may find helpful for us all. 😊
Tbh though I had no luck with the ones I tried on there - maybe because I have about 12 other conditions - as well as the TP - that I had to declare ☹️.
Good luck - when we did finally get to book a holiday we had to cancel because I developed an Incisional Hernia that required an operation. It took more than four months to get our money back because it was to have been an expensive cruise. The company we booked through was a very very well known one who advertise on the telly. They basically abandoned us and we had to deal directly with their underwriters. They were very expensive as well - aaagh 😀. If you would like I could PM you their name so you don’t make the same mistake (although they may be better if it is not an expensive holiday)?
I went to OZ one year post transplant and managed to get travel insurance including air ambulance flight home after explaining everything... I used Allclear Travel...this was Dec 2019
A year ago I bought insurance from The Post Office. It cost about £300 for the two of us which I thought was good value for a 2 week cruise around Japan on the Diamond Princess (very much in the news at the time). The cruise line cancelled the holiday so I didn't have to claim on the insurance but it took ages for the travel agent to refund the money. Eventually I got every last penny refunded to my bank account.
I have family in USA and used to go twice a year and I found you have to look and research every site going I did every time and still it cost me nearly as much for insurance as the ticket and if they don’t give you a year insurance so I could go twice a year don’t think they will be the cheapest the second time or next year research again. It’s painful work and frustrating but worth it, good luck.
