Stage 4 liver cancer
Sorry to hear of your Dad's diagnosis, apologies that I have no personal knowledge of the condition but perhaps you'll find useful information on the British Liver Trust page on HCC. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
Best wishes, Katie
Hi Barbie3, I'm so sorry to hear of your father's diagnosis. I hope other forum members are able to offer you some advice and support, but just bear in mind that our systems may be different to yours in Canada. I can see that Katie has kindly posted a link which you may find helpful in the British Liver Trust website.
Warmest wishes,

Hi Barbie3,
I had 2 tumours, one 4cm and one 2cm and NASH.
I had 2 sessions of TACE treatment which shrunk the tumours. I also went on a drugs trial (TACE2) that closed before it's full run because there was no conclusive proof that the drug used (sorafenib) was of any benefit when used alongside TACE procedures for liver cancer.
My tumours after shrinking then held stable and eventually I was able to go on to transplant assessment and transplant.
Your fathers tumour is very large and so I don't know if TACE would be an option.
If your fathers cancer is a primary cancer, in the liver only, is it maybe possible that he could be put forward for liver transplant assessment?
I have had no experience of Lenvima and so can't help you on that one.
Wishing you and your father all the very best ongoing.
Alf
Hey, i am wondering what your time projection was. Sorry if that is a difficult question. My dad has been diagnosed w stage 4 metastasis. Bur cant detect anything anywhere else. Thank you so so much.
Hi Rnkb,I was given 5 -6 months to live without treatment, but was told that if I went on the TACE2 trial and I responded to the treatment, that I might have 18 months or possibly longer.
I went on the trial and it was over four years before I entered end term liver failure.
My tumours, that had shrunk after the TACE procedures at the beginning of the trial were still primary to the liver when I was assessed for transplant.
I was told that I would only have about a 30% chance of getting onto the transplant list as I was 68 at the time and I'd had type 2 diabetes for twenty or more years.
I feel that I was very lucky.
Hope this info is helpful
My very best to you and your dad.
Alf.
