I am just 31 years old and diagnosed with gallstones. My report says there are more than 12 gallstones and the largest one is 10mm. I get severe episodes of pain in the upper right quadrant under my ribs. Also the report says my liver is mildly fatty. Now having fibroscan in March. Extremely worried about my condition I think they ll remove the fall bladder. But in this age is it normal to develop these problem? My daily life is getting affected so badly!

Gallstones
I was only a few years older than you when I had my gallbladder out. The doctor told me that the most common cause of gallstones is rapid weight loss. Though in my case I had only had one big gallstone. I haven't looked back since I had it out, no side effects, no diet restrictions, no problems at all.
I keep forgetting that I had mine removed. It has made a major difference in my life as I no longer know what bloating feels like.
My mother had her gallbladder removed at the same age. From what I've read, it's fairly common for women in their late twenties and early thirties. It's not a death sentence though. My mom is now in her early sixties and only recently did I find out she didn't have a gallbladder. I hope that helps
Hi Amy,
Here are our publications on Gallstones and also NAFLD ( if that is what you are diagnosed with)
Hi, if you do need gallstones removing, they will always remove the gallbladder aswell, so that no further issues arise. But don't worry, your pain will disappear, once it's gone. Good luck.
