Pain 2 days post biopsy

Hello,

I had a liver biopsy on Wednesday midday. No complications. Went home after 4/5 hours of monitoring. Had no problems in the evening.

However yesterday I started getting a dull pain near the biopsy site in the upper right abdomen, which is the same today. It just feels tender with occasional dull pain and occasional shooting pain. Pulse and blood pressure are both normal.

Everything I've read online says that pain should subside within 24 hours, anyone else had this?

Good afternoon youngandworried,

I am sure our forum members will be along shortly to share their varied experiences.

I have attached a link to the British Liver Trust information on liver biopsy

If your pain is worsening, may I suggest you reach out for medical advice, whether its from the department who carried out your biopsy or your GP.

Hopefully you will feel better soon,

Has your pain started to ease?

Hi there.

Some people get very little discomfort and others get a bit more (I was in the latter group) We are all very different as are our biopsies. Your discomfort sounds fairly typical to me but if you are worried, as Trust says, contact the dept that carried it out or your GP.

Hopefully your discomfort has subsided by now.

All the best.

Alf
